Thanks for the introduction to becoming a rainmaker.  Most people who fail at rainmaking do so by giving up too soon.  The underlyling logic of the effort is simple,  You must go out and meet the right people.  Then you must stay in front of them by beiing helpful to them and, in appropriate, low-key ways, remind them of what kind of work you do and work eventually will come in.  Easily said, but the first six months are hell.  How do you meet people?  How do you stay in front of them?  The more you do it, the easier it gets, both because you develop skills and because as your network grows, one good contact leads to others.  It can take two years before you start to see a predictable flow of business and three before you begin feel in control of you destiny.  Then it gets fun . . .and financially rewarding.  

Becoming a rainmaker is a big dream, but one that many people can realize, if only they persist.  As you say, it&#039;s a matter of how badly you wants it.
